Juan Carlos Cárdenas Azueta, of the State Health Department, acknowledged that the state is experiencing a psychosis related to swine influenza. Hence there have been a series of rumors that say that have been confirmed cases of the disease in hospitals in Quintana Roo, but there have not been.

He stressed that so far there have been no cases of swine flu in Quintana Roo. This according to the State Laboratory of Public Health, the body responsible for conducting studies to determine when there is a case of such influenza.

Without clean water

A malfunction in the main line of conduction left Chetumal and surrounding villages without water service since early this morning, with an estimated involvement of at least 200 thousand users.

According to the director general of the CAPA, Pedro Flota Alcocer, though the repairs were completed yesterday afternoon, it would be Friday before the service is normal, since it is difficult to fill the driving line, which measures 40 kilometers long and 36 inches in diameter.

­­MEXICO CITY, APRIL 21 -- Thanks to the diversity of natural attractions, beaches, and culture, tourism in Quintana Roo has been sustained in the first quarter of 2009. It has increased eight percent despite the global crisis, said Governor Félix Arturo Gonzalez Canto, calling attention to the Third Edition of the Xcaret Travesia Sagrada Maya-Cozumel, which will take place from May 23 to 21.

He noted that foreign tourism accounts for 80% of visitors who arrive daily to Quintana Roo, and its growth continues on par with the 80 thousand hotel rooms that are offered today in the state. The promotion of different destinations and now the rescue of Mayan traditions have undoubtedly attracted more visitors.

Vacant land seized

­­The Directorate of Revenue of the City Council initiated the inspection of vacant lots in the city, 35 of which have been seized. Over 835 are in the process of execution, after a series of warnings and invitations to their owners to fulfill their obligation to clean them, informed the head of the Legal Department Hacendaria Hector Rodrigo Lopez Sansores.
