With the support of over 300 elements of 16 units of the three levels of government and providers of tourist services, the Municipality of Othon P. Blaco launched the operation to provide serveillance and prevent accidents, "Easter 2009".

In a meeting headed by the secretary general of the City Council, Luis Alfonso Torres Llanes, actions were coordianted with institutions like Sedeño SEMAR, Red Cross, harbourmaster's, the State Civil Defense, API, National Emergency Commission, Angeles Green, PJE, PEP, PMP, Police and Fire, among others, to develop strategies that lead to the prevention of accidents on highways and in tourist and recreation centers throughout the town.

An alleged trafficer and two undocumented Brazilians were arrested yesterday by members of the Mexican Navy and the 34th Military Zone, in the 50 kilometer stretch of the Bacalar-Lemons road. After being informed of their rights, the aliens were turned over to immigration authorities, while the trafficker was interned at the Center for Social Rehabilitation of Chetumal.

The secretary general of the Trade Union of Chauffeurs of Car Rentals (SUCHAA), Ruben Pelayo Kuc, said that the ruling issued by the Second Circuit Court of the Judiciary XXVII is a fait accompli which expired last year. And hence it will continue to discharge the mandates entrusted to it by the majority of the members of the group, who were re-elected for the period 2009-2011.

He stressed that the Executive Committee of SUCHAA would respect the ruling issued by the federal courts: "We accept, but it is clear that we have not violated any laws. Given the autonomy of our union we can make choices that fall solely to shareholders and dealers," he said.
