Hotel occupancy rate will barely reach 70%

Resources available to update POEL

This issue is that the Municipality of Othon P. Blanco requested the support for the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment (Sedum) to begin work on updating the Local Ecological Program (POEL) Bacalar, because they have the economic resources and it is scheduled to take place this year said the owner of that unit, Javier Díaz Carvajal.

This follows the request made by members of the City Hall, the official said it is necessary to update POEL in Bacalar to give certainty to investors. But local authorities don't have the request. Sedum maintains constant updates of all programs (territorial, environmental, landfill and natural protected areas) in the nine municipalities of Quintana Roo.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rejected talk of Mexico becoming a failed state during a visit Wednesday to the capital, where she sought to reassert solidarity with a neighbor increasingly sensitive to criticism from Washington.

"I don't believe that there are any ungovernable territories in Mexico," Clinton said at a press conference, challenging a popular talking point among U.S. military strategists, conservative lawmakers and talk show hosts.

The growth of the tide as observed yesterday in the Bay of Chetumal is a natural phenomenon which is recorded at various times of the year. It is derived from several factors, including astronomical and wind factors, especially those from the Southeast, said oceanographer Laura Carrillo Bribiesca, a researcher at the Colegio de la Frontera Sur (Ecosur).
